Margaret Ann Oneil was born in New York, probably in Montgomery or Schoharie County. She was married to Palmer Daniels in 1830 in Montgomery County. They lived there until about 1845, when they moved to Wisconsin. Margaret Ann served as a midwife for the birth of several of her grandchildren. In later years she became "insane" (perhaps from the trauma of losing 2 sons and a son-in-law in the war?) She died in Rochester, Minnesota, in 1872 at the age of 62 years.
She and Palmer had 8 children:
Louisa Maria
George W. -married, served for 3 years in the Civil War, went on to have 9 children
Polly - married to an Ayers
Daniel W.-died serving in the Civil War(abt 9 months)leaving a widow and two children
John -died after serving in the Civil War twice for a total of a year of service
Julietta - married John Charles Barton, widower with 13 children; had an additional 7 children of their own
