Nov. 24, 2007 South Dakota, USA
Tammy Olson-Bergman fell sick on Sunday, Nov. 18 and went to be with the Lord on Saturday Nov. 24. A seizure took her body, but God had her heart. It beat with enough strength to give her family six days of God's love and amazing grace.
Tammy Olson-Bergman was born to Robert and Patricia Olson on Dec. 8 1961 in Aberdeen. Tammy grew up in Vallejo, Calif., and graduated from Ipswich High School in South Dakota in 1980. Her most current residence was Sturgis. While growing up she developed an overwhelming capacity for love that reflected God. She lived life to the fullest with her zeal and those who knew her caught a glimpse of heaven as she reflected God's love and laughter to everyone she met. Life is a treasure hunt, each person carrying a piece of God that is unveiled. Everyone who encountered Tammy soon discovered the great treasure of joy and laughter. We all enjoyed the warmth of her heart that beat with a passion for life and a love for people. She brought to life the verse that says "A merry heart does good, like medicine." (Prov. 17:22)
Tammy was a rose amongst thorns with her brothers (Mitchell, Michael and John), but always held her own. She was the apple of her father's eye and was the image of her mother's beauty. She had unwavering love and devotion for her grandparents (Harvey and LaVonne Olson) and her mother-in-law (Dorothy Bergman). Her greatest love was her husband Steve and her children Ross and PJ and Kayla (who preceded her in death). She loved the holidays with Christmas being her favorite. Tammy loved to write poetry and was a floral arrangement artist. As a family we thank you for your love and uplifting prayers during these difficult days. But we would also like to say very clearly that while we mourn her death, we do celebrate her life as we know today that she dances on streets of gold with her daughter and other loved ones who couldn't wait to see her again. So until then, we just simply say "For Pete's sake, don't cha know" I'll see you all very soon ... and ... as Jesus instructed us, "Do not let your hearts be saddened and do not be troubled, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world."
The funeral service for Tammy Jo (Olson) Bergman, 45, of Sturgis and formerly of Ipswich, is Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Richland Wesleyan Church, rural Mina. Interment will be in Richland Cemetery. Visitation at Gramm Funeral Home in Ipswich.
