Son of August T. Olson and Dina Gifford Olson. He attended Mount Morris College where he took instruction in voice. He was in the Indian service in South Dakota for three years. He graduated from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1914 and he practiced dentistry in Rockford for more than 22 years. He was an accomplished cornetist and before leaving Mount Morris was a member of the local band. In Rockford he was director of the Shrine Band for eight years and director of music in the Kiwanis Club. Dr. Olson married Goldie B. House in 1913 and they had two children: Margaret (Mrs. Donald Kelly) and Jeane Ellen.
