Solveig B. Calkins, 80, a resident of Marysville, Wash., for the past five years and previously of Albany, died Feb. 9 at the Marysville Care Center of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Ketchikan, Alaska, to Berg and Pauline (Pedersen) Olsen.
She was a homemaker who loved to cook for her family. She was a great cook and pie maker and always had a knitting or crocheting project in progress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Calkins, and her parents.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law James and Margit Wallin of Marysville, Wash.; stepson James Cherry of Auburn, Wash.; stepdaughters Carleen Lambert of Globe, Ariz., and Donna Jon Goddard of Auburn; sisters Alfhild Jensen of Vancouver, Wash., and Esther Railey of Ketchikan, Alaska; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHenry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakville Cemetery.
