SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life will be held Jan. 21 for Robin Lynn Olsen of Springfield, who died Jan. 13 of cancer. She was 55.

Olsen was born Dec. 20, 1949, in Everett, Wash., to Robert and Dolores Apker Schultz. She married Carle Olsen on Sept. 11, 1971, in Springfield. He died June 30, 2000.

She graduated from Thurston High School,in 1968 and from Oregon State University at Corvallis; with a bachelor's degree, in 1973. She previously lived in Washington state and in Oakridge.

Robin was a child development teacher at Thurston High School and had worked in the Springfield School District since 2000. She was a teacher in the Pleasant Hill School District from 1973 to 1976.

She enjoyed photography, writing, cooking, spending time with her family and friends and being a grandmother. She belonged to Jubilee World Outreach Baptist Church and Thurston Christian Church. Her family said she will be remembered for her compassionate nature.

Survivors include two daughters, Summer Highfill of Springfield and Lyndsay Olsen of Whittier, Calif.; a son, Brekke Olsen of Springfield; her father, of Marysville, Wash.; two brothers, Bob Schultz of Springfield and Ron Connelly of Creswell; three sisters, Jodee Taylor and Kelly Smith both of Springfield, and Jerri Schultz of Camano Island, Wash.; and one grandchild.

Friday's service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Eugene Christian Fellowship Church. Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jubilee World Outreach Building Fund, 1171 Fairfield, Ave., Eugene, OR 97402; or the Springfield School District Brattain House
