He was born in the Sierra Ancha Mountains in Arizona to the late John Ollson, prominent in mining and trucking in Arizona and central Nevada, he was brought to Tonopah as a youngster. A decorated veteran of service with the Navy in World War II, Mr. Ollson returned to Tonopah after the war and became a community leader. He accepted the position of deputy sheriff at Mercury nine years before his passing and had a record of distinguished service there and in Pahrump, where he had been stationed months before his death. A distinguished Nye County, Nev. law officer and resident of the area for 40 years, he died in Las Vegas after an extended illness.
He was survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, John K. Ollson of Reno; two sisters; and his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Ollson of LaMesa, Calif.
