Jim Oliver, 88, of Eddyville, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at 10 p.m., at Princeton Health and Rehab, following a long illness.
Born Feb. 1, 1923, in Lyon County, he was a son of the late Clyde E. and Stella Jackson Oliver; he was a retired farmer and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Virgie Jackson Oliver; two grandchidren, Gordon Mitchell and Robin Ann Oliver; two brothers, Robert Oliver and Wylie Oliver; his first wife, Rosie Brown; and a son-in-law, Richard Davis Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Stamps Oliver; three sons, James Oliver of Caldwell County, Tommy Oliver of Trigg County and Harold Oliver of Lyon County; two daughters, Lois Davis and Katherine Fulks, both of Lyon County; three stepsons, Tommy Stamps of Mayfield, Willie Stamps of Blythville, Ark., and Michael Stamps of Eddyville; a stepdaughter, Ella Stamps of Benton; and a brother Woodson Oliver of Lyon County.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Robin Redd officiating assisted by the Rev. Dean Ray.
Burial followed in Oliver Cemetery in Lyon County.
