She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on December 17, 1920 to Prince Olive and Ila Olive and was a lifelong resident.
She attended Bethany Nazarene College where she met and married her husband of 72 years, Vernon Coody. They raised their three children in Port Arthur. Aline was a dedicated and lifelong member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Port Arthur. She was Youth Director, taught Sunday school, directed Vacation Bible School and was church pianist until age 90.
She was a lifelong teacher, having served in the Port Arthur Independent School system for 20 years. She taught music and elementary school. After earning a certification in Special Education, she dedicated herself to teaching and working with intellectually disabled students. Even after retirement from the school district, she continued to tutor students in her home. Aline enjoyed handwork, including crochet, knitting, making dolls and needlepoint. She also loved flowers, gardening and birdwatching.
Aline is preceded in death by her two sisters, Thelma Carleton and Lois Davis and two brothers, P.A. and James Olive.
She is survived by her loving husband Vernon; two daughters, Sandra Wright and husband Dennis and Carol Schram and husband Harold; son, Gary Coody; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
