Angela Olivas Gonzales
On Monday, September 26, 2011, Angela Olivas Gonzales left this earth to become in angel in the Kingdom of God. Angela was born on January 27, 1937 in Cuchillo Parado, Chihuahua, Mexico. Her parents were Idelfonso Olivas and Nicolasa Juarez Olivas. Angela married Vicente Gonzales in the year 1957 in El Vado de Piedra, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. Angela was a homemaker and had made her home in Odessa for over 40 years.
Angela's favorite pastimes were tending to her plants and enjoying family and company on her front porch. She treasured her grandchildren and was always looking out for their needs.
Those waiting to greet her in Heaven were her parents, her two young children, Martha Imelda and Raul, her brother, Hermiņio Olivas, and her grandson, Raul Nevarez.
She is survived by her husband: Vicente Gonzales of Odessa; two sons: Efren Gonzales and Fermin Gonzales, both of Odessa; five daughters: Dominga Nevarez and husband Arnulfo, Irma Mendoza and husband Frank, Blanca Gonzales, Nicole Gonzales and husband Hector Cornelio, and Nena Arroyo and husband Ismael, all of Odessa; four brothers: Guadalupe Olivas and wife Lydia, Idelfonso Olivas and wife Belinda and Pedro Olivas and wife Manuela, all of Odessa, and Heronimo Olivas of Pecos; three sisters: Demecia Zubia of Presidio and Santos Salgado and husband Luis and Sulema Ramos and husband Otilio, all of Odessa; ten grandchildren: Monique Macias and husband Victor, Ashley Mendoza, Arnulfo Jr. Nevarez, Brittany Mendoza, Erika Mendoza, Giovanni Gonzales, Fermin Gonzales, and Massiel Soto Gonzales, Myra Arroyo, and Ismael Jr. Arroyo, all of Odessa; and four great-grandchildren: Madalyn Nevarez, Evan Mendoza, Jayden Martinez, and Ayleen Brito, all of Odessa.
Rosary will be said 7:30 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm Thursday, September 29, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Father Joe Uecker. Pallbearers will include Ismael Arroyo, Martin Ramos, Lupito Olivas, Ponchito Olivas, Mario Olivas, and Lia Zubia. Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
The family extends special thanks to everyone that has been by their sides during their mother's illness and death.
Angela was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
