Friends may call after 7 tonight at Marks Mortuary in Wood River for Mrs. Esther Verla Baker, 73, of 210 Wood River Ave., East Alton, who died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday at Wood River Township Hospital where she had been two weeks.

She lived in Eldorado, Ill., before moving to East Alton five years ago.

She was born in Raleigh Township, Aug. 26, 1897, and married Charles Baker, Feb. 14, 1914.

Mrs. Baker was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Wolf Creek and the Wood River Senior Citizens Club.

Surviving are a son, William Robert of Wood River; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, George Oglesby of Harrisburg and Ernest Oglesby of Eldorado; and two sisters, Mrs. Ora Miner of Glatia and Mrs. Mollie Kruse of Alton.

The body will be moved to the Rogers Funeral Home in Eldorado for visitation after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Primitive Baptist Church with Elder T. Leo Dodd of Eldorado officiating.

Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery.
