MRS. M. H. McCANON

Mrs. M. H. McCanon, well known Chariton lady, died at her home in this city on Friday, March 7, 1941, at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 7 days. She had been in failing health for some time, suffering with a heart ailment.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Donald McKay, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Christian church, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.

Lillian I. Ogden, daughter of Isaac and Louisa Ogden, was born in Roanoke, Indiana, on Oct. 30, 1866. She was united in marriage to M. H. McCanon at Altoona, Iowa, on June 30, 1895. To this union two sons were born, both of whom are living. They are the Rev. Rupert L. McCanon, of Scobey, Mont., and Ralph W. McCannon, of Chariton.

A number of years ago the family resided in Chariton whil Dr. McCanon, chiropractor, engaged in the practice of his profession. For several years previous to returning to Chariton about two years ago, their home had been in Woodburn.

She united with the Church of Christ at Altoona, Iowa, at an early age, and remained a faithful and sincere worker all the days of her life. She was a woman possessing many admirable characteristics and was admired and esteemed by all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband and the two sons previously mentioned; four grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters; I. A. Ogden, of Seattle, Wash.; L. A. Ogden, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Kenneth Ogden, of Portland, Me.; W. F. Ogden and W. L. Ogden, both of Des Moines; Mrs. E. A. Thompson, of Mora, Minn.; Mrs. G. F. Grimes, of East Lansing, Mich.; and Mrs. G. A. Dillon, of Tulsa, Okla.

Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral services were W. F. and W. L. Ogden, of Des Moines; Mrs. E. A. Thompson, of Mora, Minn.; and Mrs. Nestor Anderson, of Moline, Ill.
