LEWISBURG -- Joan H. Dressler, 77, passed away early Tuesday morning, Oct. 7, 2008, in RiverWoods, Lewisburg, where she had been a resident for five years. She was a former resident of High Street Manor, Selinsgrove.
She was born May 17, 1931, in Mechanicville, N.Y., a daughter of the late Raymond E. and Gertrude Mary (Bissenett) Offenbacker. On Nov. 23, 1951, she married Howard A. Dressler, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1978.
Joan attended the Hudson Valley School District in Mechanicville and later served on the ladies auxiliary of the town's fire company.
She was a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove.
Joan enjoyed crafts, including sewing and latch hook, and was a talented painter.
Joan is survived by one son, Brian A. Dressler of Virginville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Holly A. Dressler of Selinsgrove, Bonnie S. and Thomas Sheetz of New Columbia and Julie L. and Thomas Fitzgerald of Sunbury; five grandchildren, Ryan M. Dressler, Carissa J. and Brianne L. Klembara and Emily C. and Trevor A. Fitzgerald; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan L. and Frank Carr of Postenkill, N.Y., and Nancy J. and Michael Hovey of Kissimmee, Fla.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael D. Offenbacker.
A memorial service for Joan will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wesley United Methodist Church, 306 Rhoads Ave., Selinsgrove, with the Rev. Dr. Michael L. Stine officiating, assisted by Director of Nurture Lynn Schmoyer.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Selinsgrove
The family will provide flowers. Contributions in Joan's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, designated for research, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
