PRINCEVILLE -- Donald F. Oertley, 79, of 6215 W. Oertley Road died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 1995, at his home. Born March 17, 1916, in rural Princeville to Wilbert and Rosena Fritz Oertley, he married M. Helen Waddell on Sept. 3, 1944, in Spring Lake. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Thomas E. of Dunlap; one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Kathy) Beck of Alpharetta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. One daughter, Stasia Bennett, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He farmed in rural Princeville for many years, retiring in 1978. He also was an assembler at Caterpillar Inc.'s East Peoria plant for 10 years.

For 58 years he was a member of Princeville Masonic Lodge 360, AF&AM, where he was worshipful master in 1945 and held a life membership. He was a member of Princeville Historical Association and was a charter member of Princeville Lions Club.

For 61 years, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Harry Losey will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m.

Additional visitation will be one half-hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Methodist Medical Center hospice program, Princeville Historical Association, Princeville Lions Club, or his church.
