Bouge N. Oakes, a self-employed pillow manufacturer, died Friday at East Jefferson General Hospital of complications related to heart disease. He was 63.
Mr. Oakes was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and lived in Metairie for 21 years.
He attended the University of Georgia. He was a member of the Board of Governors of the Colonial Country Club and Crescent City Baptist Church.
He served with the Army-Airborne during World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Duncan Oakes; two sons, Rodney and James Oakes; a daughter, Bougena Rutledge; four Brothers, W.L., Ray, Eddie and Baby Oakes; a sister, Ada Johnson; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held today at 8:30 P.M. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Georgia. Times Picayune 11-11-1990
