Francis T. O'Rorke, 88, of Rochelle passed away Monday, April 4, 2005, in Rochelle Health Care West. He was born May 3, 1916, in Lee County, near Steward, on his family's farm, the son of Hugh T. and Gertrude M. Colloton O'Rorke. Francis married Margaret Ruth Mihm April 19, 1941, in Rochelle; she died Nov. 20, 1998. He was also predeceased by sister, Mary Catherine; and brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Paul. Francis was a 1934 graduate of Steward Community High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a staff sergeant, stationed in Fairbanks and Nome, Alaska. After the war, he farmed near Creston for a few years, and then worked on the Perry farm for 30 years (currently Focus House north of Rochelle); he retired in 1978. Survivors include his son, Daniel (Fran) O'Rorke of Esmond; daughters, Frances Kay (John) Hoff of Nashville, Tenn., and Tricia (Michael) Mallon of Ro chelle; grandchildren, Tatia and Ryan (Kathy) Gibbs, Robbie and Kathryn Hoff, and Jeffery and Jeremy (Jenn) O'Rorke; great-granddaughter, Maddison O'Rorke; and sisters-in-law, Bernadine Holloway, Mildred Carney and Betty O'Rorke.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle, with the Rev. David Peck officiating. Burial, with military honors by VFW Post 3878, in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle. Memorial to be established by the family. 4-6-2
