Josephine Louise O'Neill Larimer was born in Missouri on March 17, 1897. She passed away on January 26, 1995 in Shafter, Calif.
Josephine's parents died when she was a toddler and she went to live on a farm near Russell with Dave and Etta Bond. On June 24, 1914, she married Richard C. Larimer and they spent 50 years on their Iowa farm. They were active members of the Bethel United Brethren Church.
Upon their retirement, the Larimers moved to Tucson, Ariz., where they spent many years. In 1974 they moved to California where they both spent their remaining years.
In the late 50's, the Larimers joined the Nazarene Church in Tucson and later continued their membership in the Nazarene Church in Shafter, Calif. Josephine was an active member of the First Nazarene Church of Tehachapi, Calif. at the time of her passing.
Josephine was always a craftwoman. Her skills included crocheting, jewelry making, basket making and painting. In California, she learned ceramics at the Braille Society in Bakersfield, where she was active for the last 18 years.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1977, and is survived by her daughter, Catherine White and son-in-law, Thomas C. White, M.D. of Tehachapi, Calif. and granddaughters Marilda White of Colorado and Sandra White of California.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Bethel Cemetery in Lucas County. Pastor Larry Prosser officiated. Serving as bearers were Dr. Thomas White, Dean White, Dale White, Floyd Coulson, Marilda White and David DeBok.
