Rites Held For Pleasantville Traffic Victim
Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock this afternoon at Indian Prairie for 27-year-old Burton W. O'Haver of Pleasantville, who was killed in a near head-on collision early Friday evening south of Dugger. He was discharged Sept. 29 after serving 3 1/2 years in the Army.
Seriously injured in the accident was Mrs. Lessie Beal Kirkman, age 50, of Dugger R.R. 1, who was the driver of the other car involved in the accident.
Mr. O'Haver was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with the Kirkman automobile on Highway 159 near the south edge of Dugger.
Surviving the victim are his mother, Mrs. Mattie O'Haver; four brothers, Harold of Oregon, Guy of Donners Grove, Ill., and Willard of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Harrington of Bicknell.
Burial was in Freelandville Cemetery under the direction of the Newkirk Funeral Home of Dugger.
According to the investigation of State Troopers Joseph Van Parys and Eddie Nash, O'Haver was northbound and started to pass an automobile ahead of him. When he apparently saw the approaching southbound car driven by Mrs. Kirkman, he applied his brakes and skidded sideways into her vehicle.
Mrs. Kirkman suffered chest injuries and lacerations over her entire body.
