Josephine Margaret "Josie" Grueber, 85, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, in Arcadia, FL.
She was born Josephine Margaret O'Hanlon on Nov. 2, 1921, in East Liverpool, Ohio.
Formerly of Ellwood City, Josephine resided on River Road for almost 20 years. She graduated from Southern Florida University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She married Feb. 1, 1941, and was a beloved mother and wife, and enjoyed long marathon walks while discussing religion with her grandchildren. She enjoyed many hobbies including travel, painting, needlepoint, astrology and antiques. Josie was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was a devoted Catholic and participated in many events representing St. Paul Catholic Church and St. Agatha Catholic Church prior to moving to Arcadia. She worked at the State Hospital in Arcadia as an administrative assistant. She contributed to the community as a volunteer teacher for "English as a second language".
She is survived by brother, Merle "Al"; sons, John, Michael, Stephen, and Edward; daughter, Marianna; 10 grandchildren, Shawn, Jason, Chad, Aric, Andrew, Mark, Toni, John, Charles, and Stephanie Grueber; and five great-grandchildren, Austin, Dillon, Jacob, Kyele and William Grueber. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward John Grueber; brothers, Francis, George, Clarence, Keith, and Keren O'Hanlon; and sister, Martha Andrews.
A graveside service will be held at St. Agatha's Cemetery in Ellwood City, Pa., at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007.
