Actor, Painter. He was an American actor during the silent film era. In 1926, he met his wife Russian-born Ayn Rand, who was an extra in Cecil B. deMille's 1927 film "The King of Kings." He had a small part in the film. They met when she tripped him in a scene. The couple married April 15, 1929 by a judge in Los Angeles. His marriage to Rand led to her American naturalized citizenship. His wife became a very well-known philosopher and author, with her career overshadowing his. It is assumed that his philosophy of life was the same as his wife's. After five years of marriage, he left acting, thus any film after 1934 with the credit of having a "Frank O'Connor" was not him. This actor was another actor with the same name of Frank O'Connor, who was born 1882 in New York and having a five-decade career of acting and directing, made these films. To add to the confusion, the two men bear a striking resemblance to one another during these early years. After acting, he enjoyed working on the farm, raising peacocks and growing and arranging flowers. When the couple moved to New York, he became a painter and a member from 1955 to 1966 of the Art Students League of New York, according to his obituary in the "New York Times." He often created the covers to her books and painted portraits including self-portraits. He was given credit from his wife for his help with the writing of "The Fountainhead." In his wife's play, "Night of January 16th," he had an acting role. The couple was childless. In 1999 a television movie, "The Passion of Ayn Rand," his character was played by Peter Fonda.
