He died Sunday at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston after an illness.
A native of Magnolia Springs, he lived in Kirbyville most of his life and was a self-employed paint and body repairman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane O'Brien; a son Russell O'Brien; two daughters, Darenda Brandon and Debbie Hutchinson; and mother, Rosa O'Brien, all of Kirbyville; four brothers, Merle O'Brien of Houston. Jerry O'Brien of Hankamer, J. W. O'Brien of Milam, and Arthur O'Brien of Kirbyville; four sisters, Evelyn Lindsey of Jefferson, Eunice Herrin of Channelview, and Helen Holloway and Francis Wessel, both of Kirbyville; and five grand children.
