Catherine "Cathy" Bernadette Moshier, 52, of Avondale died of cancer Dec. 19, 2007.
She was born April 30, 1955, in Camden, N.J., and moved to Arizona in 1988.
She began her career in medicine as a physical/occupational therapist in the Navy. After taking several years to raise her children, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She served four years in the Air Force as a medical/surgical nurse. In 1992, she transferred to the U.S. Public Health Service, where she was a labor and delivery nurse at Phoenix Indian Medical Center, a public health nurse on the Salt River and Navajo reservations, and a nurse in federal prisons.
In 2001, she earned a Master of Science degree in nursing from University of Phoenix and became a family nurse practitioner. Later, she joined the U.S. Public Health Service Rapid Deployment Force Team.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin; two daughters, Christina and Legna; one son, Brian; her parents, Joseph and Mary Novack; four sisters, Patricia, Mary, Theresa and Ann Marie; one brother, Joseph; and six grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Road in Avondale.
