Annabelle (Derrickson) Norton
DECATUR -- Annabelle (Derrickson) Norton, 78, of Decatur, formerly of Mattoon, died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 6, 1995) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert H. Derrickson officiating. Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until service time. Survivors include two sons, Michael K. Norton and wife, Linda, of Decatur and Frank H. Norton and wife, Irene, of Decatur; three brothers, the Rev. Robert H. Derrickson and wife, Julia, of Mishawaka, Ind., Steven L. Derrickson of Mattoon and Larry K. Derrickson and wife, Melanie, of Mattoon; three sisters, Martha L. Derrickson, Hazel M. Peoples and Mrs. Clint (Joyce) Joyner, all of Mattoon; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Norton was a retired Water Department employee for the City of Decatur. She formerly worked in food service for Caterpillar, Staley, Firestone and the Decatur Country Club. Mrs. Norton also formerly operated a boarding house for black students in Charleston and was a volunteer worker for CHELP. She was a member of the St. James Church.
She was born May 14, 1917, in Mattoon, the daughter of Elza and Clara Bell Derrickson. She married Kenneth H. Norton on Dec. 30, 1944; he survives.
