Helena M. Northern Nitschke Blocker, age 64 lost her courageous battle with lung cancer on Thursday, August 4, 2011. She was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, found her soulmate in San Antonio, Texas, and with her loving husband by her side they made a new life filled with loving family and friends in Navarre, Florida for the past 11 years where she participated in the American Red Cross, Waterfront Mission, and Sharing & Caring non-profit organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved grandson, Brandon Farris. She leaves behind a loving and supporting family. Her husband of 17 years, Lloyd Blocker, daughter Steffanie (David) Farris, granddaughter KaliAnna Farris, daughter Pamela (Chris) Woods, grandchildren Ian and Abigail, daughter Dena (Sergio) Aponte, granddaughters Beth and Amelia, and great granddaughter Arianna, sisters Linda Kirkman, Susan Scher, and Loretta Martin as well as several brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
For those who wish to donate to honor her name in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or your local no kill animal shelter. Her family would also like to thank the caring ICU medical team at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. We thank you for your dedication, kindness, and care to our most beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 8, 2011 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Pensacola, FL. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the funeral home
