Alma Louise Broadus, 80, of Magnolia, died Wednesday morning, January 8, 2014 in Magnolia. A gathering of family and friends began at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home with funeral services that followed at 2:00 pm with Brother Danny Davis officiating. Interment was in House Cemetery in the Edge Community. Serving as pallbearers were Eddie Dan Lohse II, Jerry Daniel Carraway, Joseph Donald Broadus, Chester Shane Broadus, Christopher Lee Sheffield, Anthony Jay Smith, Dustin Perry Lohse and Robert George Sheffield. Alma Louise was born January 30, 1933 in Millheim, Texas to Samuel Joseph and Lillie Hilbolt Norman. She spent growing up years in Cat Spring and married Lonnie Donald Broadus on August 26, 1949. An expert quilter, Alma Louise stitched numerous quilts for family and friends. As a mother she taught all of her children to cook, sew and quilt. When ever she set her table, there were always extra plates, for no one was ever turned away. There was always room for one more and there was always plenty of coffee and tea ready for the thirsty. Alma Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Donald Broadus, Sr., a daughter, Kathy Lynn Jones and a brother, Joseph Samuel Norman. Survivors include her children, Louise Marie Broadus Sheffield, Lonnie Donald Broadus, Jr., Connie JoAnn Broadus Smith, Shirley Lou Broadus, and Eva June Broadus Carraway, 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a great number of friends.
