Phala Lee Bost, 97, formerly of Abilene, died Monday, October 28, 2002, at a Gainesville, Texas care center.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Murphy Rhoads officiating, directed by Elliott- Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Bost was born to Jack and Laura Benson Norman on January 18, 1905, in Lockney, Texas. She was the founder of McCalls Chapel School for the Mentally Retarded in Ada, Oklahoma. In 1969, she moved from Ada to Abilene, Texas where she lived until 1995.
She married Charles Elvin Bost on October 2, 1922. Mrs. Bost was a member of 5th and Grape Street Church of Christ, and a volunteer at Christian Service Center in Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elvin Bost (d.1980); a daughter, Wanda Sides (d.1986); two brothers; and seven sisters.
Survivors include a grandson, Charles Sides of Midland; two granddaughters, Becky Lee of Gainesville and Carol Willis of Midland; two sisters, Ruth Jordan of Eastland and Betty Hall of the State of Washington; and six great-grandchildren.
