MUNCIE--Ruth M. Nelson, 83, Muncie, died Wednesday morning at Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born in DeKalb, Ill., the daughter of Mamie Anderson Noreen and George Noreen.
Ruth grew up in Illinois and graduated from DeKalb High School and later from Business College in Rockford, Ill. She worked at DeKalb Agricultural Corp. in Illinois until she married Lloyd P. Nelson on May 4, 1946. Ruth and her family moved to the Muncie area in 1953. She was a homemaker. Her memberships include the First Baptist Church, where she was active in the Women's Missionary Society, and the BSU Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd P. Nelson; one son, Roger B. Nelson (wife: Fran), Muncie; one daughter, Carol R. Nelson, Muncie; one brother, Howard G. Noreen (wife: Mibs), Dekalb, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Donna Noreen, Rockford, Ill.; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harold M. Noreen.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Willia Noblitt and Dr. George Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Ridge Cemetery. There will be visitation and viewing at The Meeks Mortuary from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday. Family will receive visitors after noon Saturday at the First Baptist Church.
