Leona was born on the family farm in Rolette, North Dakota to James and Carrie (Rustad) Noel. She was the 11th of 12 children.

Leona grew up on the farm, helping with chores from an early age. The family raised wheat and oats plus their own food. The fields were plowed with six horses, and there were cows and chickens to take care of, and water to be hauled from the well by buckets to heat on the stove. In Spring and Fall Leona went to school with her siblings and the other neighborhood children in a covered wagon, and by sleigh in the Winter. Summer was filled with sunshine, horseback riding (the family transportation), playing with siblings and others, and some hard work.

Leona married Ennis Stickland, and stayed in Dunseith, ND while Ennis went off to war. After the war they moved to Seattle where Ennis became a longshoreman. Ennis was killed in 1951 in a car accident on the way to work. Leona became a widow with four children, and one on the way. Ricardo Cettolin was Ennis' friend, and helped to take care of the family after his death. Leona and Ricardo were married in 1952. He was the instant father of five children, and later they had a daughter, Barbara.

Leona worked at Baker's Bakery in Lake City, and later at the Bon Marche in the bakery and candy department. Leona enjoyed bowling, travelling, shopping, and being a homemaker. Leona's greatest accomplishment and joy was being the mother of six children.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband Ricardo, husband Ennis Stickland, daughter Barbara Cettolin, son Bill Stickland, and grandson Shawn Kellogg. She is survived by a sister, three daughters and two sons-in-law, one son, three grandsons, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren [survivors names omitted].
