Clyde Eugene Nodruff, 86, of Montgomery, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL. Clyde was born to Walter and Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Nodruff in Aurora, IL on July 27, 1921.

He attended East Aurora High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant/Master Mechanic in the Infantry from July 12, 1944 to August 17, 1946. He is an honored WWII Veteran and served in the Pacific Theater. His campaigns included Victories in the Philippines and the island of Luzon in the South Pacific. His decorations and citations include, The Combat Infantry Badge, The Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, Bronze Service Arrowheads, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, and three Overseas Service Bars, as well as the President's Unit Citation Medal. In 1951 he married Joyce Harker of Batavia, IL. They raised two children, Ronald and Malinda. He was a Volunteer Fireman in Montgomery, IL. Clyde was a member of the Montgomery Methodist Church and a Lifetime member of the Montgomery VFW Post #7452. During the late 1940's and early 1950's, he was employed at Burlington Railroad Roundhouse as a Machinist/Tool and Die Maker. Clyde then became self-employed as a repairman of oxygen equipment for Fire Departments and Hospitals. He later received his Brokerage License and sold real estate. Clyde built two homes on the east end of his parent's farm property and an 11 unit apartment building. He later retired to Southwest Florida, Matlacha Island in 1969, with his loving pet companion, Shotzy. He was a very innovative man given the gift of strong mechanical reasoning. His interest and hobbies included camping, fishing, boating, and hunting. His beautiful blue eyes will continue to be reflected in the generations to come.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Joyce Nodruff; his children, Ronald (Tammy) Nodruff and Malinda (Michael Sr.) Waid; grandchildren, Alison and Ashley Nodruff, Amy and Michael Jr. Waid; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Helen (Leo) Von Hoff, Viola (Joseph) Moles, Leslie (Dorothy) Nodruff, Robert (Doris) Nodruff, Gerald Nodruff, and Burton (Bernice) Nodruff.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00am at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery. The family will be receiving guests from 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday at the Memorial Home.
