Born in Green County, TN on May 17, 1834 the son of John Wallace and Eleanor Jones Nixon. Was living in AR by 1860 and served in the 9th AR Regiment during the Civil War. He was awarded the Southern Cross of Honor from the David O. Dodd Chapter of DOC in 1902. Married Lizzie Fannie Atkins on November 11, 1866 and they were the parents of four children. Ada Ellen born March 9, 1868, Flora Ann born June 20, 1870, John Henry born May 18, 1873 and William Benjamin born December 14, 1875. He lived in Lincoln County, AR until his death December 14, 1911.
