Wife of Tom Niles.
Mrs. Tom N. Niles, 72, died quite unexpectedly on Saturday, her death resulting from an emergency operation at St. Clare hospital in the morning. She had been in poor health several months. Born here in Monroe, Oct. 29, 1872, and was Edith Wagner, daughter of John and Mary Grundbacher Wagner, who lived here many years, her father being a well known carpenter. She was united in marriage to Tom N. Niles, Dec. 4, 1893, by the brother of the groom, Rev. Charles F. Niles. Their golden wedding was observed in 1943.
Surviving besides her husband is one son, Charles J. Niles, Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Paul A. Johnson, Chicago, and Mrs. Irene Van Dyke, Pasadena, Calif., three brothers, Arthur L. and Harry Wagner, Monroe, and Ruebin Wagner, Peoria; three sisters, Mrs. John Holcomb, Clarno Township, Mrs. Hulda Sleichter, Kalona, LA., and Mrs. Guy Van Matre, Mineral Point, and seven grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Dr. John L. and Fred Wagner and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Barker, Miss Emma Wagner and an infant sister. Burial will be Greenwood cemetery.
