ALEXANDER BRISTOL Ethel Alexander, 81, of Bristol passed away
Wednesday, July 11, 2001, unexpectedly at her home after a brief illness. She
was born in Newport on Aug. 23, 1919, the daughter of Maurice and Geneva
(Flint) Niles. She graduated from Bridport High School in 1937. On Sept. 15,
1937, she married Cecil Alexander, who predeceased her on Nov. 20, 1961. She
is survived by two sons, Edward Alexander of Buxton, Maine, and Kenneth (Joe)
Alexander and his wife, Mary of Bristol; six granddaughters, Mary Alexander
and her husband, Mark Mumford, Becky Heath and her husband, Dean, Judy Hardin
and her husband, Johnny, Sharon Dushaney and her fiance, Chris Crane, Lorri
Alexander and her fiance, Dan Bristol, Jill DeRosa and her husband, Bob; six
grandsons, Todd Alexander, Brian Dushaney, David Dushaney and his wife, Gayle,
Kevin Alexander and his wife, Stephanie, Jack Alexander and his wife, Patrice,
and Jeff Alexander; 15 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Dustin,Christopher,
Bronson, Bradley, Megan, Angel, Kaleb, Michele, Cody, Becca, Courtney,
Michaela, Kayleigh and Akeitha; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ethel was a very hard-working woman often working two jobs at a time to
support her family. She worked for many years at the Bristol Inn, Standard
Register, Dog Team Tavern, The Coachman's Rest and Porter Hospital. She was an
active member of Bristol Federated Church, Bristol Senior Citizens and Green
Mountain Senior Citizens. Ethel was a very special loving grandmother who
showed her grandchildren unconditional, endless love. She always had a smile,
a hug and a snack on hand for her grandchildren. She will be missed by her
family and her grandchildren on whom she was such a positive influence. She
will live on through her grandchildren. Ethel was predeceased by a daughter,
Barbara Stark in 1997; and a son, Cecil Alexander Jr. in 1938; four sisters,
Edith Thompson, Mary Ladeau, Marjorie Alexander, Claire King; and one brother,
Edward Niles. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Brown-McClay
Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions may
be made in Ethel's memory to The Green Mountain Senior Citizens, Bristol, Vt.,
