Mrs. Mary McLaughlin Nickell, 61, wife of Ira M. Nickell, 1620 Lexington Ave., prominent Ashland attorney, died at 6 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Lexington.
She had been ill only one week, and had been taken to Lexington for special treatment yesterday.
A native of Huntington, where she grew up and attended the public schools and was graduated from Marshall College, Mrs. Nickell was the daughter of H. R. and Katherine Rolfe McLaughlin of that city. She was married to Mr. Nickell June 30, 1927.
Mrs. Nickell had been active in the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years. She was also a member of the Ashland Woman’s Club and the Ashland Garden Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Ashland.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body will be brought to the John Steen Funeral Home here tomorrow.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Nickell is survived by her sons, James Nickell and Morton Nickell, of Ashland, one brother, G. M. McLaughlin of 640 Sixth Avenue, Huntington; and two grandchildren.
