Joyce M. Adkinson
Joyce M. Adkinson, 68, of Okanogan, died September 2, 2000 at the Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak.
She was born May 7, 1932 in Ellisforde to Narcisse and Cecilia (Manual) Nicholson Sr.
She graduated from Marycliff High School in Spokane. Joyce attended Wenatchee Valley College and Fort Wright College in Spokane and received a BA Degree in Education.
Joyce married Willie Dan Adkinson in 1957 in Baldwin Park, CA.
She worked for Pascal Sherman School for 25 years and 18 of those as a teacher. She enjoyed bingo and her dogs.
Joyce was a member of the Colville Confederated Tribes and the Catholic Church. Joyce was a member of the St. Joseph's Altar Choir Society.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Adkinson of Spokane and Teresa Lynn Adkinson of Okanogan; one son William D. Adkinson of Okanogan; four sisters Eilene Nicholson of Tonasket, Elizabeth Breiler of Omak, Chrissy Hutton of Oroville and Ellen Abeita of Omak; one bother Raymond Nicholson of Omak, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rosary will be held Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at the Barnes Chapel in Okanogan, with Mass of the Christian Burial Thursday, Sept 7, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Mary's Mission Catholic Church. Interment will be held at the Ellisforde Cemetery.
Memorials can be given to the St. Joseph's or St. Mary's Mission Catholic Church.
Barnes Elmway Chapel, Brewster, is in charge of arrangements.
