Carl L. Nicholson, 54, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Salina, Wichita and Huntsville, Ala., retired Boeing electrical engineer, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday, at Riverside Cemetery, Denver; memorial service 4 p.m. Saturday, First Congregational Church, 101 W. Central, Maize.
Mr. Nicholson was born Feb. 19, 1947, to the late Gene and Cecile Nicholson of Maize. He was a 1966 graduate of Maize High School and attended the University of Kansas and Wichita State University, where he graduated in 1973.
He had many hobbies including, sculpting, flowers, poetry and horseshoes, but enjoyed long distance running most. Over his lifetime he ran many races including the Boston Marathon. He enjoyed the competition and was still actively running at the time of his death.
Preceded in death by brothers, Marvin of Wichita, Robert of Salina and sisters, Glenda "Gee-Gee" of Maize, Donna Frazier of Valley Center.
Survivors: wife, Lin of Aurora; daughters, Jennifer Nicholson of Nashville, Tenn., Brenda Mills of Shreveport, La., Heather Maynard of Meridianville, Ala., Amanda Nicholson of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Charles of Maize, John of Wichita; sisters, Freida Woodruff of Kansas City, Mo., Nancy Grover of Wichita, Jennie Baker of Kaw City, Okla., Linda Pennington of Sedgwick, Connie Lee of Valley Center; grandchildren, Brianna Mills and Mark Maynard.
