Margaret was born in Portland, Oregon to parents Joseph and Florence Phelan.
She was an accountant for Tharp Brothers, a member of the University of California Alumni Association at Berkley and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Banner.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Hart of Antelope,CA; two daughters, Barbara Sample and Peggy Johnson both of Floral; two step-daughters, Hazel Brown of Floral and Odie James of Wolf Bayou; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James Columbus Nicholson and a sister Mary.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Grove Cemetery with Jim Glover officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Batesville Funeral Service.
