"Alice Alix", obituary, McIntosh County Democrat (Checotah, OK) 4 Mar 1920, pg 1 col 1

One of the saddest deaths recorded in the newspaper for some time occurred Monday morning at the Baptist hospital in Muskogee when the grim reaper took as his toll the life of Mrs. Louis Alix of this city.

Realizing that surgical attention was necessary, Mrs. Alix was rushed to the Muskogee hospital Sunday afternoon where everything possible was done to save her life but to no avail.

Five children, ranging in age from 3 to 12 years are now deprived of that greatest of all blessings - the loving care and tender sympathies of mother.

Alice Nichols was born at Ozark, Ark., Aug. 10, 1884, being 35 year, 6 months and 19 days of age at the time of death. She was united in marriage to Louis Alix at Alix, Ark., March 2, 1902, and to this union was born five children - four girls and one boy, all of whom, together with the heart broken husband, survive to mourn her great loss. Deceased is also survived by her aged parents, four brothers and one sister.

The Alix family came to Checotah March 27, 1915, since which time the city has been their home. By her lady-like and motherly demeanor Mrs. Alix made a large circle of friends here, all of whom are saddened at her untimely death.

Mrs. Alix was a member of the Baptist church, taking an active part in all church affairs. She was also a member of the Knights and Ladies of Security and Royal Neighbor lodges of Checotah.

The funeral services were held at the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon in charge of the pastor, Rev. A.B. Little. Members of the I.O.O.F., Knights and Ladies and Royal Neighbors attended in a body, the latter two fraternities having charge of a part of the church service and at the grave.

Interrment was held at Greenlawn cemetery.
