Malvin Lee Nichols, 55 year old Checotah resident, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in Tulsa, Ok. Malvin was born Saturday, June 8, 1955 in Checotah to Gay V. & Helen Fairchilds Nichols. He grew up in Checotah and attended Checotah Public Schools. After graduation, Malvin entered the U.S. Army, serving 4 years, after which time he received an Honorable Discharge. He began working construction and later began working in oil fields where he became disabled because of an oil field accident. Malvin loved caring for his parents, which he did for 15 years. He was always there for them. His hobbies included woodworking, small engine repair and working on heat and air units. Two of Malvin's favorite things to do were, riding motorcycles and fishing. He always had a smile on his face and was friends with everybody, he was very well liked. Malvin attended the Onapa Baptist Church as a young boy. He was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children, Teresa Gail Bruner. Malvin is lovingly survived by his three children, Temi Crouch and her husband Randy of Bartlesville, Scotty Nichols and his wife Bonnie of Checotah and David Herrin of McAlester; two grandchildren, Magyver Crouch and Currin Crouch; two brothers, Verlin Dean Nichols of Alabama and Marvin Nichols and his wife Brenda; one sister, Madaline Jones and her husband Gary, all of Checotah; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Graveside services for Malvin will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah with Reverend Paul Butler officiating.
