NICHOLS, LILLIE M.—Lillie M. Goodsell, daughter of Ezra and Florence Goodsell, was born on a farm near Fairmont, Neb., on January 17, 1880, and passed from this life at Heritage of Geneva, in Geneva, Neb., on September 25, 1973, at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 8 days.

She grew up on the farm, most of it on the farm near Fairmont except for a few years in her teens spent with her family in Wisconsin.

On September 27, 1904, she was united in marriage with Edgar W. Nichols, at the home of the groom near Fairmont. To this union were born eight children.
They made their home on a farm near Fairmont until 1934 when they moved into Geneva.

She was confirmed in the Methodist church at an early age and was an active member of the United Methodist church in Geneva at the time of her passing.

She was deeply devoted to her family and to her church and gave unstintingly of herself in the care and nurture of both. She had a deep love for flowers and the ability to make them grown and bloom. She always had one of the most beautiful flower gardens in town.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two children in infancy, her husband in 1936 and her son Howard in 1967.

She is survived by four sons, and one daughter, Robert of Geneva, Elwin of York, Jesse of Lakewood, Col., Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Hofferber of Shickley and Maurice of Geneva; also 24 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist church, Geneva, at 2 p.m. Friday, September 28, 1973, with Rev. John E. Stayton officiating.
Mrs. Willard Foster organist played the selections “Lead Kindly Light,” “Rock of Ages’ and “How Great Thou art.”
Pallbearers were Fred Lees, Raymond Nichols, Maurice Crawford, Richard Nichols, Charles Nichols and Gene Nichols. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
