World War I vet. only survivor in a group that was gassed in a fox hole by a very lethal Mustered gas.He received a metal of honor pinned on by Gen. Pershing received marksmanship metals.
He played the Juice harp and the French harp to my delight as a child (Dora). He loved a Western movie, liked Comedies, also. He liked to ice skate when young. He liked one jigger of whiskey, only, per night.Walked every where he wanted to go.(We had no car till we moved to California, when I was 13.)
The best father anyone could have ever had.
He worked 11yrs at Meek's Poultry Farm,Canby,Oregon. They went bankrupt. He then went to a Turkey farm and worked till we moved to California. In California he worked on a Turkey farm at Perris,California
one year.we then moved to Arlington,California, where he took care of an Orange grove.(It gave me allergies). He then went to work at The Hidden Valley Ranch,in La Sierra, near Riverside.Taking care of Bird Dogs for the hunters who went to hunt Pheasants,Quail, and Ducks. Ward Bond,of TV, Wagon Train, fame kept his dog there. He gave dad 100 dollars and a case of expensive whiskey, for Christmas one year. The Whiskey lasted a long time unlike the money. When the owners moved onto the ranch dad was no longer needed. So he then went to work at a kennel in Bellflower,California, taking care of cats and dogs.He worked there till he retired to Nuevo,California, where he was a care taker on a large farm.In 1963 dad, mom,Pheoby Lee and her family moved to Arkansas.I (Dora) followed latter with my family and in laws.
