Last rites for Elmer Newton, 53, 2317 Jackson St., who expired early Monday morning at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., will be at Fisher Brothers Funeral Home, Lapel, Thursday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Garfield Steedman, pastor of the Lapel Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park.
The family has requested that flowers be omitted and that funds intended for the purchase of flowers be donated to the Cancer Fund.
He underwent surgery last Friday at the Rochester Clinic.
He was a foreman at Plant 10, Delco-Remy Division, General Motors Corp. and had lived in Anderson for 25 years. He was a past worshipful master of Lapel Masonic Lodge 625, F. and A. M. and a member of the Anderson Camera Club.
The widow, Mrs. Dorothy Newton, is a teacher at Washington School.
