A memorial service for Edith Leah Newton Anderson, 98, of Tyler, will be conducted at a later date.
Mrs. Anderson passed away, Feb. 28, 2009, at Reunion Plaza in Tyler.
She was born May 16, 1910, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Ellen Louise Newton.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Tyler. She was a volunteer Red Cross nurse's aid during World War II. After moving to Florida, she became a charter member of the volunteers at Port Richey Community Hospital where she was active for 25 years. Upon moving to Tyler at the age of 90, she then joined The Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Anderson worked for Marshall Fields in Chicago for 25 years and worked her way up from clerk to department manager before retiring.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Milvern Anderson; her sisters, Elsie Golk, Alice Gustafson and Ruth Masters; and by her parents.
She is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Audrey and husband, Bob Cameron of Tyler; grandchildren, Kevin and wife, Catherine Cameron of Minnesota, Keith and wife, Barbara Cameron of Wisconsin, Kathy and husband, Tony Kuehn of Minnesota; nieces, Janet and husband, Don Etnier of Wisconsin, and Mary and Jerry Hoff of Minnesota; and nine great-grandchildren.

Note: I do not have confirmation that Edith is buried in Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens but I believe Milvern Anderson buried here was her husband and perhaps she is buried next to him.
