Peter Newton, aged 87 Years, died Sunday night at 7:30 o'clock at his home on Leroy Street after a brief illness. The deceased was a Confederate Veteran having served through the Civil War. The funeral services were conducted from the late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock after which interment was in the Confederate Cemetery.
