Adiel Neuharth was born May 30, 1913, to Ludwig "Louie" and Caroline (Bittner) Neuharth at Alpena. He was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed Church faith.
On March 2, 1937, Adiel married Ida Wagner at his parents' home near Alpena. They lived and farmed near Alpena until 1969, when they retired and moved to a home outside of Huron.
Adiel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Huron. He served as clerk for the Carlyle Township and also served on the Carlyle Township School Board. Adiel's hobbies included woodworking and he enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step-mother, Pauline; his wife of 68 years, Ida, on June 6, 2005; two brothers, Emil and Raymond Neuharth; one sister, Leah Bentz; two step-sisters, Leone Parker and Ruth Jaeger; one step-brother, Reinhold Neuharth; and a half-sister, Lillian Neuharth, who died in infancy.
Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Vern and his wife, Marian Neuharth of Springfield, Ohio; his daughter, Shirlee and her husband, Alan "Andy" Rice of Tuthill, South Dakota; six grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife, Heather Neuharth of Columbus, Ohio, Kelly and her husband, Charles Porter of Salisbury, Maryland, Kim and her husband, Mike Halter of Stow, Ohio, Julie and her husband, Matthew Rollins of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Janeen and her husband, Carey Story of Chamberlain, South Dakota and Charles Rice of Kennewick, Washington; four great-granddaughters, Kate Rollins, Chynna Story, Brett Story and LeeVi Story; one sister, Hilda and her husband, Orville Kopfmann of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and one step-brother, Calvin and his wife, Esther Neuharth of Alpena, South Dakota.
