Margaret "Jo" Diskin, 66, of Granger died March 22, 2004 at Cornerstone Hospital of Austin.
Visitation was held Wednesday, 6-8 PM at Providence Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service followed on Thursday, March 25th, 2 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin. Burial was at Machu Cemetery in Granger, Texas.
Margaret JoAnn Diskin was born January 16, 1938 to Joseph and Mary (Kerr) Nettles in Houston, Texas. She was married to James Diskin on September 24, 1971 in Mountain View, California. Jo was an adventurer and loved to travel world wide. She was a strong Christian and a long time member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin and served as choir director for a time. Jo was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, a loving wife and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was successful in many challenging careers during her lifetime with one of her more recent endeavors as owner of Champion Racing Silks which designs silks for the horse-racing industry.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Nettles.
She is survived by her husband, James Diskin of Granger; sons, James Patrick and wife Patty of California, Joseph Diskin and wife Rachelle of Austin, Daniel Diskin and wife Josephine of Louisiana; daughters, Penny Myers and husband Mike of Georgetown, Janet Castellano and husband Michael of New York, Charlene Ludlow and husband Chris of League City; and daughter-in-law Sheila Mercer, of Austin. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jared and Brady Myers, Joshua Diskin, Jenice Guitterez, Nicholas and Gino Castellano, Matthew, Luke, and Daniel Diskin, Grace Patrick, Tracy and Tatum Diskin.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund, 801 W. 11th Street, Elgin, Texas 78621.
