Amy "Joyce" Nesbitt, 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Howard Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Joyce was born March 26, 1925, in Dumas. She graduated from Dumas High School. She worked at a post office after graduating and was the PBX operator for Northwest Texas Hospital and High Plains Baptist Hospital. On Feb. 19, 1945, Joyce married Joe Burks. Mr. Burks was a prisoner of war in World War II and preceded her in death. In 1962, Joyce married Norman Nesbitt. He also preceded her in death. She enjoyed traveling, hunting, watching football and her grandchildren's sporting activities. Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Wolf and husband Gaylon, Joe Burks, Amy Hughes and husband Mark, all of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Lori Lane of Amarillo, Branden Hughes of Fayetteville, Ark., Jarred Hughes of Denton and his fiancee, Desirae Stafford, of Dallas; and two great-grandchildren, Averie Lane and Audrie Lane.
The family will be at 6503 Palacio Drive in Amarillo.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses at Ware Memorial.
The family suggests memorials be to an Alzheimer's organization.
