Sam Nesbit Expires Suddenly of Heart Failure After Finishing Day's Work

Seized with a dizzy spell while leaving his work at the Ell-Rich mine, Samuel "Dock" Nesbit, 61 years old, 508 South High Street, died at 4 p.m. Monday of heart failure.

While on his way from the part of the mine where he worked to the hoisting cage after completion of the day's labor, Nesbit became faint. He was aided by other miners in getting into the cage. At the top he sat down for a moment, then suddenly keeled over and died. An inquest will be held.

Nesbit was born in St. Louis March 16, 1856, the son of Samuel and Mary (Archer) Nesbit.

His first marriage was to Lizzie Jacobs, who died. He was married subsequently to Katie Hartleb, who survives, with the following children: Edward, Albert, Adolph, Theodore and Olivia.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: Ephram and William Nesbit, Mrs. William Patterson, Mrs. John R. White and Mrs. Richard Seitz.

He was a member of the United Mine Workers.

The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday from the home of William Nesbit, 17 South 8th street to Walnut Hill Cemetery. Rev. Otto Pessell will conduct the service.
