Laura M. Becker, 46, of Beaver City died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Cambridge as a result of an automobile accident south of Hendley. She was born May 18, 1963, in Norton to Willis Clifford and Lynn (Nichols) Nelson.
On Nov. 7, 1981, she married Lynn Becker in Norton.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Stefanie Hoefs and her husband, Elliot, of Arapahoe; son, Adam Becker and his wife, Kayla, of Wood River; her mother, of Norton, Kan.; grandchildren, Landen and Adellyn Hoefs of Arapahoe; sister, Patsy Moody and her husband, Bob, of Lawrence, Kan.; brothers, Tom Nelson and his wife, Melissa, of Paola, Kan., Steve Nelson and his wife, Tamara, of Norton and Dennis Nelson and his wife, Jan, of Wichita; brothers-in-law, Danny Becker and his wife, Karen, and David Becker and his wife, Julie; sister-in-law, Rhonda Becker and a host of relatives and friends.
She grew up in Norton. She graduated from Norton Community High School with the class of 1981. She was a stay-at-home mother and later was employed at the Beaver City Times Tribune. She had been employed at the Furnas County Sheriff's Office for the past 18 years and currently was office manager. She was also serving as president of the Nebraska Emergency Service Communications Association.
Laura was involved in many community activities and liked helping her farming neighbors with harvesting and brandings. She loved her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and enjoyed camping and her horses. She was a very creative person and enjoyed her crafts. Laura was the sunshine of everyone's lives.
She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents, Tom and Ruth Nichols and Cliff and Edna Nelson.
