Jerry Lee Nelson, 79, died June 26, 2009, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus.

He was born June 20, 1930, in Beatrice, Neb., to Theodore and Loyal (Elliott) Nelson.

Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was employed 35 years by Delco Remy, retiring in 1985 as director of personnel. He most enjoyed managing Killbuck Park.

He was a member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge, formerly attended Park Place Church of God and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include children, Debra (Roy) Buckner of Anderson, Wendy (Terry) Stephens of Sulphur Springs, Marisa (Joe) Freyaldenhoven of Spokane Valley, Wash., and Lisa (Tim) Spaulding of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Doug) Atkinson, Aaron Buckner and fiancee, Kate, Shawn (Jennifer) Brinker, Corey (Frank) Hurley, Kyle Spaulding, Christy Long, Andy Long and Becky Long; seven stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Weldon (Martha) Nelson of Lincoln, Neb.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Loyal (Elliott) Nelson; first wife, Judith (Preston) Nelson; second wife, Doris (Bradford) Nelson; daughter, Ann (Nelson) Brinker, and step-daughter, Diane Lum.

Services will be held at noon Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 200 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, officiated by Ron Weston of Heartland Hospice. Burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson, where military graveside rites will be conducted.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Ann Brinker Memorial Fund.
