Christine Nelms Dillawn, 88, passed away April 20. She was born December 13, 1927 in Carbon, Oklahoma, a small town outside of McAlester, to Esther (Rogers) and John William Nelms.

After graduating high school in 1945, Christine took a job with Western Union in McAlester. In October 1953, she was introduced to Charles by his matchmaking landlady, Pearl Cook. They were married six months later on May 1, 1954. They settled in Houston, Texas where they raised their children and were longtime members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. After retirement in 1990, they moved to Georgetown where they were members of St. Helen's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Bill and Meredith Nelms, and sisters Wanda Nelms Alford, Joyce Lemay and Amogene Chapman.

She is survived by her brother David Nelms; her husband, Charles; 6 children: Karen (Dave) Fenter, Steve (Vada) Dillawn, Nancy (Joe) Trevino, Janet (Tommy) Williams, Linda Dillawn, and Patrick (Amie) Dillawn; 13 grandchildren: Carolyn Fenter Stehm, Daniel and Kevin Fenter, Father Paul Kostka, Allison, Patricia, Samantha, Will, Paislie, and Finnlie Dillawn, Cristina Trevino, Amanda Williams and Adrianne Williams Beutnagel; her fifth grandson, Greyson Dillawn, due to arrive in the next few weeks; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Christine's name to St. Helen's Church, The Caring Place in Georgetown.

A Visitation/Rosary will be held at Gabriels Funeral Chapel; a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Georgetown. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Taylor, TX.
