Original clippings in the possession of Mia K. Adkins Fleegel

Mary Neece was born in Coles County, Ill. in the year 1833 and died June 30, 1905, aged 72 years, 2 months and 4 days. She was the daughter of James and Susan Neece. She was married to Wm. Buchanan in the year 1847 and to this union was born thirteen children, seven of which have preceeded her to their eternal home and six survive to mourn the loss of mother. She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor and a true friend. She was converted when a child in Minnesota and united with the Baptist church. Some time afterward she moved to this state and about twenty-five years ago she was re-claimed at a meeting at Pigeon Creek and then united with the M.E. church and was a member of that church until God saw fit to take her to his mansion on high. She bore her sickness with patience and kindness and in her last few days of illness she said, "I am prepared to go," and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her for people learned to love her. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Campbell, near Spencer Switch in Pike county, Ill. The funeral was preached by Rev. J.O. Stone at Pigeon Creek church and the remains were intered in the Journey cemetery.

Mary Ann Nees Buchanon, married second William Chandler, on 19 Jan 1882 in Pike County,Illinois.
